Bournemouth , Dorset UK Surfing - 550d / T2i / Kiss X4 Video
My first attempt at making a surfing video. Did a few test shots in November, and then had to wait 6 weeks until there was more surf! Shooting surfing presents different challenges from skate and snowboard. Most prevalent was the lack of angles and features to work into the shots. Luckily we are blessed in Bournemouth with the pier, which allowed for some framing and a point of reference.
First proper video made with the new Libec tripod, makes a ton of difference over the cheapo one I had before (that fell apart). Great smooth fluid head with nice resistance.
Most of the shots I used my Sigma 70-300mm, its a cheap lens, but great value for money. In contrast I also borrowed my friend Jakes Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM. Huge difference in feel and quality of the build. The auto focus is also silent, rapid and very smooth. At full zoom the Canon lens maintains colours much better than the Sigma which tends to get very milky at full whack. This wasn’t a huge issue in this video due to the grading used.
Ive found I’m addicted to the super juiced S curve look, so forced myself to do something different. Went for the look as used in the Match.com ‘I like old movies - like the Godfather - 3” advert. De saturated and vintagey. This also helped with the Sigma milk issues.
Hope you enjoy ,

Made the drive from Bournemouth to Wilton House early Saturday morning for the Supercar Day.
Epic amount of cars there, Veyron, Mclaren F1 , Enzo , F40 , Koenigsegg , Zondas , Spykers , loads and Ferrari , Lambos, Astons and Porsches .
It was raining in the morning so I nearly didnt bring my camera. Glad I did although wish I had a tripod!
The cars started off at Thruxton, next year might head up there and get some video .

Shred, Lies and Videotape is go for more action at the end of a wintry month of January, as we are pleased to announce the 9th episode of the UK’s only dedicated freestyle podcast hit the internet!
This episode we’ve got a banquet of radness for you to cram onto your multimedia device and caress you eye lobes when you have the urge for a shred fix.
First up, we have some awesome footage from the Burton Scrap Metal last year…yeah you’ve probably seen the edit from Burton, but this is all new footage and has been very finely crafted by Kieron Howard into 3 minutes of fabulous eye candy, and is essential viewing if you missed the event.Secondly, we’ve got a collection of footage from Transform Gloves, featuring rider Jon “Feesh” Weatherley, in fine form from last season…you might have seen this one too, but it’s bangin so we had to put it in.
And then finally, Jack Ougton is a mini ripper with some fine skills and he’s got a section of SLV all to himself! Enjoy his vault of trick flip spinning as he take on the Tamworth Snowdome park.
Look out for the record breaking Tenth Episode of SLV this February! It’s going to be insane!
